On Sunday 14 February 2021 it was announced that Auckland would be going back into COVID Alert Level 3 effective 11:59pm that night. The lockdown would last for three days until 11:59pm Wednesday 17 February. Ursula and Lori were in contact immediately. Luckily, as a SMT we had already had discussions about what we would do in regards to home learning and updated our pandemic plan.
We had a staff zoom at 8pm and then Arahi team had a zoom afterwards to prepare our plan for the week. We had set our learning up for the year to be online and had already sent out our term newsletter in anticipation of another lockdown. We didnt think that it would happen this quickly though.
All members of the team took a role to make sure that learning was posted and ready for Monday morning. Our biggest goal was to get engagement.
Ways we have got engagement
- began the year using Google Classroom
- Contacted all families via email with a instructions on how to access our learning and website
- Phoned all families who weren't showing any engagement
- Zoom called on Tuesday and Wednesday
