I collaboratively planned our annual Matariki Week and Grandparents Day performance with Suit-Keen and Kerri. Once again, this was a very successful day, welcoming in our community for a very special NZ holiday.
Thursday 27th Grandparents Organisation
9am - 10:30
PTA - setting up the hall (food delivered to hall kitchen), open Dublin St gate, rubbish bags,
Kapa Haka prep - Room 13
Aroha practice in hall 9:00 - 9:45
Liturgy practice in hall - 9:45 - 10:30
From 11am - Students leaders welcoming visitors into the hall
Liturgy begins at 11:15am all students to be seated in the hall straight after the bell.
Students sit as per seating plan (add link here)
Set up projector at front of hall (SW laptop) & 2nd projector at back ( for song lyrics -MG laptop)
Order
MC/Robin to welcome grandparents and guests and handover to Arahi who are leading the liturgy

Invite grandparents to visit the classes, photos and kai in the hall.
Matariki Pōtae competition in the hall at 12:45pm will be called over the loudspeaker.
Children bring their lunch boxes and food is for our adult visitors.

Good morning, everyone. On behalf of our school community, I extend a warm welcome to all the grandparents and special guests joining us today for this wonderful occasion, Grandparents Day.
Your presence here is a testament to the strong bonds that tie our families together and the invaluable role that grandparents play in nurturing and guiding the younger generations. Today is a day for us to honor and celebrate the wisdom, love, and support that you so generously provide.
We are privileged to have you with us and to be able to share this special time together. Your stories, experiences, and the love you bestow are the threads that weave the fabric of our community.
In the spirit of our shared values, I would like to share a Māori whakataukī that beautifully encapsulates the significance of our relationships with our grandparents:
"Poipoia te kākano kia puawai.
Nurture the seed and it will blossom
Just as you have nurtured and cared for us, guiding us with your wisdom and love, we, in turn, flourish and grow. Your guidance and support are the foundation upon which we build our futures.
Thank you for being here today and for the countless ways you enrich our lives. We are truly blessed to have you as part of our school community. I hope that you enjoy our liturgy, and performances by our Aroha team and from our Kapa Haka roopu."
